After falling ill on Friday night, Queen Elizabeth was admitted to a London hospital on Sunday, the BBC reports.
According to the news source, the 86-year-old monarch was "in good spirits" while on her way to King Edward VII Hospital for symptoms of gastroenteritis.
In speaking with the BBC, a spokesman for the Queen called the trip "a precautionary measure" for the Queen who is said to be healthy besides her stomach bug. "She was not taken into hospital immediately after feeling the symptoms. This is simply to enable doctors to better assess her," added the spokesman.
Peter Hunt, the BBC's royal correspondent, says that the Queen is expected to stay in the hospital for about two days.
This news follows Prince William and Duchess Kate's appearance at a weekend wedding in the Swiss mountains.
Prime Minister David Cameron tweeted well wishes to the Queen, writing, "I hope she makes a speedy recovery."
Queen Elizabeth last hospitalization came 10 years ago for a minor knee operation.
