On Wednesday, Us Weekly posted a story about Bynes wandering through Times Square the previous day with a shirt covering her head and face. Witnesses described her as "pretending to be a ghost" and reported that she made a trip to McDonald's and ordered two drinks, which she sipped simultaneously.
Perez Hilton questioned whether Bynes is mentally unstable and even went so far as to ask two psychiatrists to weigh in on her antics.
"What happens with a lot of these celebrities is that, first of all they are exhausted. Their lives are exhausting. When you are sleep-deprived, you get a little crazy. (They may also) self-medicate," one expert told Hilton.
In Us Weekly's photos of Bynes, she's shown wearing a bustier, a velvet skirt, thin socks and white sneakers with the heel folded down.
In addition to her, um, eclectic wardrobe, the former child star continues to rock the startling new look she revealed a few weeks ago, which includes double cheek piercings, heavy makeup, talon-like fingernails and a long blond wig.
On Tuesday, she (sort of) explained what she was doing in NYC when the paparazzi caught her out and about: "I was walking to a photo shoot for my clothing line & perfume line that's in the works!"
