MADONNA COVERS THE ‘Cosmopolitan’ ANNIVERSARY ISSUE, SEE PHOTOS OF HER 25 YEARS AGO

May marks Cosmopolitan magazine’s
50th anniversary, and they’ve decided to
feature Madonna as the special issue’s
cover girl for the second time, 25 years
later.
25 years ago Madonna covered the 25th
anniversary issue in a simple, white tank
and black bowl cut. Fast forward to
today’s 50th anniversary issue, and she’s
decked out in an eccentric collection of
jewelry, biting a string of pearls as she
gazes seductively at the camera… My
how things have changed !
However, despite her evolving
appearance and the passing of time, she
says not much else has changed in the
last two decades.

“Don’t be fooled, not much has changed
—certainly not for women,” Madonna
explained in the magazine. “We still live
in a very sexist society that wants to
limit people. Since I started, I’ve had
people giving me a hard time because
they didn’t think you could be sexual or
have sexuality or sensuality in your work
and be intelligent at the same time. For
me, the fight has never ended.”

On a more positive note, another thing
that’s unfaltering is the Queen of Pop’s
self-realization . She explains, “Popularity
comes and goes. You need to know who
you are, what you stand for, and why
you’re here.”
The 56-year-old also opens up about her
new album Rebel Heart and working with
Kanye West.
“It’s a little bit of a bullfight, but we take
turns,” she dished. “He knows that he’s
walking into a room with a person with a
strong point of view, and I do too. I listen
to what he has to say, take it in, and he
listens to what I say and takes it in. We
didn’t agree on everything, but he has
good ideas.”

Yo can get the full issue of Cosmo on April 14.
